Dancing Queen...

Dance Class is Kamrin's favorite time of the week. It's her one activity that she gets to go do without anyone else in the family. Preslee, her friend takes classes with her. They are catching on pretty well. Kamrin shows everyone who comes to our house the rest of the week what she has learned that week at dance class. So, I though that I would post some pictures of her from her class this week.

Happy Birthday Kelsie!!!

Happy 6th Birthday Kelsie!!

Six things I love about Kels:
  1. Her smile!
  2. She is a lot of help to me around the house!
  3. Her personality!
  4. Her Energy!
  5. Her off the wall comments!
  6. Her desire to do better at everything she does!

Rice Cereal

I decided that since Kyler was now four months old and eats a ton that I would try to give him some cereal to see if that would fill him up. Well, here's how it went:

1. Before Cereal

2. First Bite. Not so bad, he's seems to like it.

3. After about 4 spoonfuls, he's not so sure about this stuff.

4. By about 6 or 7 spoonfuls, he's gagging on the stuff.

5. Okay, I think he's had enough what do you think??

In memory of President Hinkley

In memory of president Hinkley's passing, I wanted to share my most fond memory of him. I remember when he was on Larry King live. That interview did so much for our church. He answered questions so well. One of his many strengths was public relations. He had a sense of humor and wit about him that we all loved. I will always remember that about him.
I went back to the CNN transcripts and reread the interview today. Click here to read it.

Oh, how they grow!!

Kyler is 4 months old!! I cannot believe how fast the time has gone by.

Kyler at Birth

Kyler at 1 month

Kyler at 2 months

Kyler at 3 months

Kyler at 4 months
My friend did this on her blog, so I went and did the test. It said that I was compatable with an Ox or Snake. I thought that it would be fun to see what Josh was. Well, he is a snake so I guess we're compatable. The funny thing is he's extremely afraid of snakes. Anyway here's our results and the link to try it yourself:

Heather

Resourceful and practical, you are a quick thinker.
You are very observant - and it's hard to get anything past you!
A total perfectionist, you are especially picky about looking your best.
You're a big dreamer - such a big dreamer that reality can disappoint you.

You are most compatible with an Ox or Snake.

JOSH

You Were Born Under:

Popular and crafty, you are a master at the art of seduction.
You are intelligent and intuitive - and make a savvy businessperson.
You live life to the fullest, even if it means maxing out your credit cards.
Many people are secretly (and hopelessly) in love with you.

You are most compatible with a Rooster or Ox.

Hmm....Should I be worried?? It says that many people are secretly in love with Josh??

Pay it Forward

I won the Pay it Forward contest on Karisa's blog so it's my turn to pay it forward. I'm totally new to this, so I'll just do it my way I guess. I've decided that I am not very good at making New Year's resolutions. In fact, it's the end of January and I haven't put much thought into what I want to work on this year. Maybe, just maybe if I put a few here where others can see I will be a little better about accomplishing them. So, #1 I want to get in better shape and in the mean time loose a little weight. #2 I want to make a monthly budget and stick to it!! #3 Be better about reading the scriptures with the kids. Now, all you need to do is leave some comment about a resolution you are making for the year on this post. Next Wednesday the 30th I will put all the names in a hat and have the girls draw a winner. The winner will receive some sort of prize from me. It's that simple. I can't wait to hear from everyone!

Locks of Love

I haven't cut my hair (except for minor trims) since a few months before I found out I was pregnant. So, I am guessing that it has been about 16 months since I had a major cut. Well, my hair was getting too long and I couldn't stand it any longer. So I decided to get it cut and donate it to Locks of Love. In order to donate your hair it is supposed to be 10 inches, and I could only stand to let go of about 7 1/2 or so. The good thing is that if you are close they can sell your hair to make money to produce the hairpieces with the longer donated hair. So, even though my hair won' t make an actual hairpiece for them it will at least make a little money to help out.

Here's my after pic. I forgot my camera to take a before picture, so I used my phone and I'm not sure how to get that off of my phone.

Kyler's Christmas Present

For Christmas, Kyler got this play yard/mobile thing:

I have put him on the blanket and he would just lay there and not really understand what the whole thing was about. That is until earlier this week. He is finally starting to realize that when he moves his arms a lot the toys that hang down make noises. He really enjoys playing in there now that he has figured out what it's all about.

The Dentist

Kelsie started complaining on Tuesday after lunch that her tooth hurt. So, I decided to call the dentist and make her an appointment to get it looked at. An hour or so later she was in tears because it had become more painful. The dentist couldn't see us until the following morning so I started giving her motrin to help until we could get in to see him. After a long night and morning Josh takes her to her appointment to find that the cavity in her tooth is so bad that it is infected and has to be pulled after she has been on an anti-biotic for a week. I brush her teeth and didn't notice the cavity earlier and she hadn't complained until Tuesday. She must have a high tolerance for pain or else just didn't think to say anything to me until then if it had been bothering her. I felt awful! Anyway, she feels much better now and she's pretty excited about having the tooth pulled because it's fair game for the tooth fairy.

A Little Bit of Politics....

I love Political Science. I minored in it in college and would have majored in in, but it wasn't a practical choice for my family. My ideal job would be somewhere in Washington D.C. working for a senator, representative, political campaign, etc.. you get the point. Well, I have been particularly interested lately because the presidential election is this year. This election year is pretty unique. There is a woman,

a black man,

and a Mormon,

all running for president. It's definitely a unique year. So, it is pretty important that you vote. Our country really needs someone that can put our country together again and unite us. It is so hard to see all the tension that exists in our country. Anyway there are lots of places that you can go to read about the different political views of each candidate. The Internet has made it very easy to gather information on specific candidates. Here are a few:

Anyway, I won't bore you any longer with my rambling. I just wanted to give you something to think about.

P.S. The whole religion issue in this election is getting pretty old, but has also given our church many missionary opportunities which is good. I did find one really good article.
I thought that some of you might also like it.

Sledding

On Saturday, we packed up the kids, the four wheelers, and some sleds and were off to find some snow to play in. Our friends the Walters came along with their kids. We drove to a little spot at the base of the south hills and rode around on a couple of little roads. The kids rode the four wheeler and sleds, made snowballs, and just had a ton of fun!

Kamrin and Preslee making snowballs.

Ehtan & Kelsie sledding behind the 4 wheeler.
The girls riding in the truck up the mountain.
Josh teaching Kelsie how to ride.

Our friend Chad riding the Razor with Stef and Preslee.

A Little Remodeling!!

Josh installed the tile floors in our house when we were building it. Well he thought that if he could do that then the shower/tub wouldn't be so bad. Well come to find out floors are easier than shower/tub units. He did a pretty good job for the most part, except that he is a perfectionist and he can't stand to sell our house with the tile the way that it was. He had also never quite finished the border around it because Lowe's ran out of the pieces and then edended up not carrying the same one any longer.
Unfinished Part:

What it is supposed to look like:

So, yesterday Josh and one of his employees spent the whole day tearing out all of his hard work .

Now our tub/shower looks like this:

Hopefully, we will be able to get a tile guy here to fix this pretty quick. Our family is down to one shower/tub and it is upstairs!

Winter Wonderland

We have gotten a ton of snow today. This is the first real snowstorm that we have had in such a long time. It seems as if we get so much less snow here than I was used to growing up. It has snowed lightly all day long and I bet we have at least 4 inched built up by now. It has been the perfect type of snow storm without wind and the snow just falls lightly all day long. The girls couldn't stand watching it from the inside any longer and put all of their warm clothes on and headed outside. I took a few pictures of them making snow angels and just having a good time out in the snow.

Good Movies

We have seen a few really good movies lately that I highly recommend.

1. National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Great for anyone who love history and some action.

2. August Rush. Me, my sisters, and my girls all went to this and loved it. It is rated PG and was a great family show.

3. P.S. I Love You. This is a good girl movie. Bring lots of tissues if you're a crier because this one will make you cry a ton!
