Coloring Easter Eggs

The girls have been begging me to color easter eggs with them for awhile now and so we decided that today was the day.

So, we took some eggs and boiled them.....

then, let them bathe in some color.....

and ta da .... you get beautiful colorful, easter eggs!!

Here come the deviled eggs.

Our cross country trip...

...was a blast. ( BEWARE, VERY LONG POST!!!) Kyler and I packed up and left dad with the girls for a little break from home. We drove to Salt Lake and boarded a plane headed for Massachusetts to see a friend of ours, Brandi, that moved there last summer. Kyler was an absolute angel on the plane.. He either slept or played the entire time. I decided to bag the stroller and just carried him in a backpack the whole time. This definitely made it much easier. I'm not sure how people travel alone with more than one child though. Kyler was good and it was still a ton of work. We arrived to a home Cooked cafe Rio dinner, unfortunately there are none where she lives. She did an awesome job though, the food was very good! We decided to just take it easy and do some shopping, play Nintendo, and just catch up a bit. We ate at another good restaurant that we don't have here called Panera Bread. They have awesome soup and sandwiches there.
On Saturday we went to Bunco night with a group of girls from her ward. Brandi's sister Kaci was also in town and we all went together. These girls really go all out and it was so much fun meeting some new people! Thanks for letting us crash your party! On Monday, we decided to head to New York to do some shopping and sight seeing. Kaci, Brandi, Kyler, and I headed for the city. The rental car that we had was equipped with a GPS system and it took us straight to the parking garage that we needed to get to. A GPS is defiantly a must for traveling in the city, it was so Awesome! We drove along the Hudson river into Manhattan and parked our car in a garage there. The first spot in New York City that we saw was Times Square and it is so much more overwhelming in person than in movies and pictures. We went to Hard Rock, Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, & Sephora. You can find almost any chain somewhere in Times Square or near it. We ate at a little pizza place right off of Times Square and it was great!! After lunch we headed to Canal Street to do a little shopping. I definatly got an education while I was there. The street can be a rough place. We saw so many different kinds of people. There are numerous purses, perfumes, watches, etc. sold there and most of the stuff is fake or stolen. I did get a favorite perfume and a cute bag. After shopping, we headed to Ground Zero to see just what it really looked like. They are working on building something in the spot, so so it is hard to see. It was weird actually standing right where it all happened. All of the walking made us tired and hungry, so we decided to find something good to eat.
We headed to Lupa a restaurant owned by Mario Batali from the food network. We ate the best meal I have ever had and it was pretty reasonably priced considering the owner and location. I would definitely recommend it to others! All in all we had a great trip. Thanks Brandi for letting us stay!

P.S. I am awful and left the camera in the car at the airport. Before I realized it we had already gone through airport security. So, when I get some pictures from Brandi I will post them on here.

Ice Skating with the Walters.....

On Saturday we decide to head to Sun Valley to go Ice skating with our friends. We started the day at IHOP. (See stef's blog for more info...) The skating was quite an experience let me tell ya. It looks so easy on television. I found out that it is actually quite difficult. In fact, I only made it around the rink a few times before the day was over. I spent the first half of an hour hugging the railing.
My kids on the other hand took to it much easier than I had anticipated. All of the pictures are courtesy of Stef since my camera had a dead battery. It was a good thing that I did not have a camera because I'm sure that it would have been smashed had I attempted to take photos at the same time. Kelsie was bound and determined to skate before she left. I'll bet that she fell 50 times. I am so proud of how determined she was!

Kamrin also caught on well. She was more slow and patient.

In the end she skated without much help quite and a ways, she was even pretty graceful. All in all we had a great day and it was nice to spend some time outside.

Oh, the joys of teething......

Kyler has been a little fussy lately and that is very uncommon for him. I couldn't believe it when I saw a little tooth trying to poke through his gums. No wonder he was fussy! So it's time to break out the tylenol, oragel, and teething toys!

It seems like he is too little to be getting teeth. It has been a few years since we had to do this and I feel like this is a whole new thing for me. Anyway, does anyone have any good tricks to help make them feel more comfortable while they have to go through this??

Kamrin's Dance Class

Kamrin loves her dance class so much. I love Tuesday's because she gets up and is bathed by 8 and can barely wait until her class starts at 10:30. She just loves to get to go. The rest of the week she is singing and dancing around the house, practicing for the next Tuesday.

These are Kamrin's fancy leg warmers that we found the other day, aren't they cute??

ABC's & 123's

Kelsie is starting to read a lot more. She can sit down with a book and sound out a lot of words. She loves to sit and read to Kam and Kyler. We have been going to the public library once a week and reading together. If they are good at the library they get to check out a few books to get us through the week. We found a special section of books that are good for beginning readers, the words are simple and easy to sound out. She has loved being able to read to us!

Journaling

Okay, if any of you are like me it is hard to keep a good journal consistently. Awhile ago I found something that will help me with this. Because I am a visual person and enjoy the computer I have been able to keep up with events that should be in a journal better than I have ever been able to before through my blog. So I found the perfect solution. It's called blurp. This website has software that you download to your computer and transfer your blog, photos and all to the software, e-mail it to them, and they print you a nice book. They come in all sizes and prices, depending on how fancy you want to get, there should be an option to fit most budgets. You get to edit it and make it look just the way that you want before you send it. I just sent my first volume to be printed so we will see what it turns out like. Hopefully good so that I will have a solution to my journal writing problem!
