Doctors, Doctors, and more Doctors.....

Where do I start with this one.... We have had quite the week already. First, we took Kyler for his 6 month well check. We were finally able to get in with our favorite doctor. Kyler has grown in length and is now 28.5 inches long. This puts him in the 90th percentile. His head is big, a whoppin 45 inches putting him in the 80th percentile for head circumference. Here's the catch he is still only 15 lbs. 8 oz. so that puts him a little over the fifth percentile for weight. He can't quite sit up and has a hard time holding his head up for long periods of time. (I don't blame him, it's kind of big!!) Now that he hasn't gained a lot of weight still and he has a few other symptoms of certain disorders the pediatrician wants us to take Kyler up to Primary Children's and have some tests run. That sounded good to me, I want to do everything I can to help him grow and be strong. Then, Kels had seen a doctor last week because she breathes weird when she is sleeping and makes funny noises. She holds her mouth open a lot, like she can't breathe well out of her nose. The pediatrician said that maybe she had something in her nose that made it hard for her to breathe. So he referred her to an ENT to have it checked out. He looked in her nose and said there were no obstructions so that was good. He then proceeds to look down her throat and says AHHH... I see the problem. She has huge tonsils and that usually means large adenoids, thus solving the problem. He decided to schedule her for a Tonsil and adenoidectomy, when he asks if she's ever had surgery I told him yes tubes at 18 months. He said oh, lets check those out while we are here. One is gone and the other was in the ear canal and he removes it. He noticed that there is a lot of scar tissue in her left ear canal and asks if she can hear well. I told him that she does well in school and seems to hear me fine. He decided to do a hearing test just to make sure all is well. He comes and gets me after awhile and I watch her retake the test because she failed it. So after failing two hearing tests it is determined that she is partially deaf in the left ear. This mad me feel pretty bad. How is it possible that she can't hear and I didn't know it. She reads well, never complains about not being able to hear. Thankfully, she has better hearing in the other ear and has not been too effected developmentally. So now the doctor will remover her tonsils, adenoids, the scar tissue, and put in a new set of tubes next month after she takes medication to remove all of the fluid build up in her ears that is there because her ear doesn't work correctly!

So it looks like it is going to be quite the month around here!! I am just grateful that despite these things my kids are pretty healthy and these are only minor things compared to what they could be!!
To make me fell better me and Stef went to DQ and had a very good blizzard! Tin Roof Brownie, it's the blizzard of the month and it is ooh so good!!

Man...when it rains it pours, right???!!! Luckily these are minor problems. I had my tonsils out when I was 3...I think its a fairly simple surgery, she'll do fine! Don't beat yourself up with any of this...definitely nothing you could have fixed...YOU ARE A GREAT MOM! I wish I was there, we could movie it up! Don't worry though, I'm holding out to see Twilight with ya! :) Love you all...keep me updated!

I guess all that time I spent with Kelsie when she was young rubbed off on her. I never complained about not hearing either. All will go well. Knowing Kelsie your biggest problem will be kepping her resting for a day or so after the Surgery She will bounce right back and be as silly as ever. She will probably have the nurses and doctors rolling on the ground with laughter.

Love ya lots

Good luck with the visit to Primary Children's. I hope you can find some answers. My Justyn had that same thing with his breathing and he had to have his adenoids and tonsils removed. Then just for kicks, we had them check out Zach and Shaelynne and they both had theirs removed also. Alexys's are huge but the doctor won't remove them. Maybe it's hereditary. I know nothing about tubes and the hearing, though I wish that was my kids problem and not the less cureable disease of selective hearing. Good luck. let me know if I can help with babysitting or meals or anything. Don't beat yourself up too much on not knowing. You're a great mom! Sometimes we just miss things.
